The Bucs Cross-Country Team headed to Palmer to test their skill against the top runners in the state.

Valdez High School and the Gilson Middle School opened their doors to host a total of 16 volleyball teams (including the Lady Buccaneers) for the annual Valdez Invite Volleyball Tournament.

This weekend the varsity volleyball team had their first competition of the season playing in our annual Valdez Invite against Lathrop, North Pole, Barrow, Delta, Seward, Houston, and Reddington.

The VHS swimmers traveled to Kodiak this weekend to take on Kodiak and Soldotna in a 2-day meet.

The Valdez High School Cross-Country Team traveled north with the middle school cross country team for a friendly race against our neighbors, Glenallen.

This past Saturday the Buccaneer football team traveled to Nikiski to take on the Bulldogs in gridiron action.

The Valdez High School Cross-Country Team made their first trip north to North Pole to face off against Region 6 schools at Chena River Park. 

VHS swimmers participated in their first meet of the season this weekend.

This past weekend the Lady Bucs Volleyball team traveled to Fairbanks to compete in the Monroe Catholic JV Volleyball Tournament. 

The Buccaneers took on the Seward Seahawks this past weekend in gridiron action.

The Buccaneer football team took the field on a beautiful Saturday to take on the Monroe Catholic Rams and show the home crowd their progress from the first two weeks of practice.

Once again the Valdez High School Cross-Country Team got their racing season underway with a meet at home.

Events and rankings

The Buccaneer track team had an extraordinary weekend at the Region VI Meet in Fairbanks and brought home a Boy’s Team Region Championship, a Girl’s Team 2nd place,  and an impressive number of individual medals.

The Valdez High School Band, Choir, and Jazz Band traveled to UAA over the weekend to participate in ASAA’s State Solo and Ensemble competition.  

The Buccaneer track team had a fantastic weekend at the Region VI Preview meet. 

This past weekend the Bucs traveled to the Valley to join 30 other 3A and 4A teams for the Palmer Invitational.

Erik Vincent and Oliver Ownbey represented Valdez High School at the AASG Spring Conference April 18-21. While at the conference, they had the opportunity to meet with other students from around the state to discuss state and local issues that they feel affect them most.

After three full days of competition the NYO games have come to an end and the VHS NYO Team has much to be proud of.

This past weekend the Bucs traveled to the Valley to join 16 other 3A and 4A teams for the Wasilla Invitational.

Congratulations to our 2024 NYO GAMES qualifiers! Next week they will be competing at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage during the 3-day NyO Statewide Games.

The Valdez High School musicians made the trek to Healy over the weekend to the Aurora Music Festival.

This past weekend 18  Buccaneer track and field athletes traveled to The Dome in Anchorage and joined over 1000 other athletes from 34 teams both 3A and 4A, across the state to compete in the Russ Edwards Big C Relays.

The Lady Bucs spent their spring break in Anchorage this past week at the ASAA 3A/4A State Championship Basketball Tournament. 

The time has finally arrived.  The State Tournament; what we’ve all been working towards.

The Lady Bucs traveled to Monroe this weekend to participate in the Aurora Conference Championships.

It’s finally the time in the year we have all been excited for and working towards: the postseason!

Despite the high winds and road closures, the Delta Huskies made the trip to Valdez this past weekend for our last conference competitions of this season.
