GMS Ladies Basketball – February 12, 2018

Kim Keller – This past weekend, GMS Lady Huskies hosted their first home volleyball games against the Cordova Wolverines.  With a Valdez team of 40 girls, the gym was full of enthusiasm.

For the first time in the history of Valdez middle school sports, 6th graders have a team.  They matched up with the Wolverines, best of 3, coming away with some wins!

B1 and B2 Teams also played best of 3, dropping to the Wolverines both days.  Coach Meagan Craig said, “My team is learning the rotation, which I just introduced last week.  There were some great volleys and the potential is there.”

A Team split, winning two days, losing one.  “The girls looked good and played smart,” shared Coach Anderson.  “We have some strong servers and this week we will focus on getting 3 hits and perfecting our rotation.”

The Lady Huskies will hit the seas this upcoming week, traveling to Cordova for games.  Their season wraps up March 2nd and 3rd with a home tournament!  Be sure to come out and support our girls.
