VHS Alumni Carl Arts to be Honored This Weekend
This weekend at the Elks Tournament there will be a small ceremony to honor former VHS basketball player Carl Arts. Named 2003-04 Alaska 3A Player of the Year after leading Valdez High to a 28-0 record and its second state title in three years averaged 17.1 points (60% FG, 80% FT, 35.5% 3FG), 7.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks as a senior, improving scoring average to 22.3 in the state tournament. Arts who graduated from VHS in 2004, went on to play for UAA for four years. During that time Arts went on to become the Seawolves 3rd All-Time Leading
