Speed Limit Increases on Sections of the Richardson Highway

Speed limit is now 60 MPH from Fairbanks to North Pole, 65 MPH from North Pole to Eielson.

(FAIRBANKS, Alaska) – Today, the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF) increased the speed limit on the Richardson Highway from Eielson Air Force Base to Fairbanks. Previously, the route was 55 MPH.

From Fairbanks, south to North Pole, the speed limit increased to 60 MPH. From North Pole, south to Eielson, the speed limit increased to 65 MPH. The lower speed from Fairbanks to North Pole is due to observed driver behavior,
