Grace Tournament 10/10-13/19

Head Coach: Adam Sharrai

Assistant Coach: Katie Burns

Buc Volleyball loaded  into the transit van for the first time this season and headed to Grace Christian Tournament in Anchorage.  This years proved larger than ever with Grace hosting 21 teams , 2 brackets of pool play Friday and Saturday morning, followed by 3 double elimination brackets in the silver, gold, and platinum divisions.

The Bucs lined up against Kenia 25-16 (W) , Sue Valley  25-12(W), Bartlett 25-8 (L), Wasilla  25-8(L), Soldotna  25-20(L), Eagle River 25-19 (W), Kotzebue 25-19 (W), ACS 25-19 (W), and Mnt. Edgecumbe 25-17 (W) to end their pool play 6 wins and 3 losses.  This placed the Lady Bucs 4th in the Platinum Bracket behind the 4A teams they had already lost to.  Hoping to get through a few games to have another chance to play them they would have to best Palmer first.  The Bucs lost to Palmer in two straight struggling to put their game together but found some rhythm against Homer in the next match splitting one a piece but came up a little shy in the tie breaker to end their run at some more 4A play and bring their tournament to a close.  The Bucs enjoyed the championship games and awards later that evening along with Jillian Fleming bringing home All-Tournament Team honors—way to go and nice job Jillian!

The Bucs acknowledged they have some work to put in during practice to ready themselves for next weekends match with Hutchison, but more importantly prepare for Regional’s coming up in a few weeks.  Work hard and as always–Go Bucs !!!!!
