Fireworks banned in Valdez due to high fire danger

City officials confirmed the current state of Alaska suspension on the use and sale of fireworks due to high fire danger *does* include the Valdez area.
Early Friday afternoon, the Valdez Police Department contacted the local Valdez fireworks vendor and advised them of the suspension. The vendor voluntarily complied with the state of Alaska order and closed their shop.
