Valdez Fish Derbies volunteers deserve recognition

Valdez Fish Derbies Weigh-In coordinator Joanne Winney presented information to the Valdez Fish Derby committee last Wednesday and the volunteer hours put in by local residents is impressive.
The weigh-in shack is staffed 600 hours during the season and 325 of those hours were staffed by volunteers Barb Rusher, Tom and Sue Arts, Tom and Lois Gilson, Maddie Fisher, Suzanne Gifford and Carole Deerfield. The other hours were covered by Joanne and Dave Winney. Winney credited Derby Clerk Dana Morales and Debbie Yamakami for being her “go to” support for all things weigh-in.
