State projects decline in Valdez-Cordova census area residents

Cordova Times- Alaska’s population will rise to 899,825 residents by 2045, while the number of people living in the Valdez-Cordova census area will fall to 7,600, state labor officials are projecting. According to the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development report, released in late April, the number of people in the Valdez-Cordova census area, Yukon-Koyukuk census area, and several areas of Southeast and Southwest regions of Alaska will see population declines by 2045, while the Anchorage/Matanuska-Susitna, Interior, Northern and Gulf Coast regions of the state will grow overall.
