The City of Valdez recently released Valdez by the Numbers for the year 2025. NorthWave Communications will be sharing some of the information over the coming weeks.
The population of Valdez has dropped to the lowest it’s been in the past 20 years. In 2024, the population was 3,793, having dropped from the 1995 high of 4,305. In the past 12 years, Valdez experienced population decline in all but two years, losing 377 residents since 2012 – an overall decrease of 9%. The largest population declines were among children under age 10 and residents in their 20s.
