The two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of Richardson Highway and Airport Road.
VALDEZ, ALASKA (September 19, 2025) — At approximately 8:12 AM on Thursday, September 18, Valdez Emergency Dispatch received numerous 911 calls reporting a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Richardson Highway and Airport Road.
Valdez Fire and Police personnel responded to provide emergency medical care and investigate the crash. Upon arrival, responders found the driver of one of the vehicles had been partially ejected and was in critical condition. The driver was treated on scene and immediately transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries prior to medevac.
The deceased was identified as JACQUELINE BUERGE-HOYT [DOB: 5/30/1962] of Valdez. Next of kin have been notified.
Valdez Fire Department emergency medical personnel treated the occupants of the second vehicle, including four juveniles, for non-life-threatening injuries. All were transported to Providence Valdez Medical Center for further care.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Valdez Police Department.
