A press release from Interim Superintendent Jason Weber sent to parents last Thursday explained that Gilson Middle School and Valdez High School are out of compliance with the minimum number of instructional hours required by Alaska state law. The school will have to make up 83 hours of instructional time before the end of the school year by adding three Fridays and three inservice days back into the schedule and adding 47 minutes of instructional time per day starting Monday, December 2nd. The letter did not outline start and end times for school.
