The City of Valdez 2022 construction season will be underway in the upcoming weeks. Here are some updates for the upcoming street jobs around town this week, July 13th thru July 20th.
- Construction has begun on East Hanagita Street. The Street will be closed to all traffic starting July 12th until the project is completed in Early September. A detour will be set up for access to the alternate ER entrance and the Valdez Senior Center. The bike path entrance on north Meals Avenue to the Valdez Senior Center will also be closed to bike and pedestrian traffic. A detour is set up to access the path behind the Senior Center from the hospital parking lot detour that’s already in place. Please follow all detour and other traffic instructions in this area.
- Work will begin on Whalen Avenue in late August. The City will inform the public of exact start dates once a construction schedule is received. The road will be closed to the public during the entire construction duration.
- Landscaping and topsoil work is complete on the Pavement Management Phase II Black Gold project. The contractor will continue to water these areas until grass and soil are stable.
- Please follow all traffic control instructions and take extra precautions around heavy equipment and flaggers.
