VALDEZ – Valdez Fire and Police Departments responded to a fire at 135 Foraker St, Apartment #5. Emergency responders arrived on scene and discovered an active fire and quickly began extinguishing the fire. Fire and Police responders performed rescue efforts to evacuate the single occupant. The sole occupant of the residence, 68 year old David Perkins, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified. The fire was contained to a single apartment unit with no other injuries to building occupants or serious property damage to adjoining apartments. The cause of the Fire is currently under investigation by the Alaska State Fire Marshall.
