Volleyball

Courtesy of VHS Coaches – Our GMS Huskies attended the Sweetheart Slam this weekend in Glennallen. The A team finished the weekend undefeated, bringing home a first place trophy from the varsity bracket.  They faced the Nome Nanooks in the Championship match and it was by far their toughest competitor thus far in the season. In the end, A team’s unpassable serves and well placed tips and hits helped them win the match. 8th graders Destiny Day, Aleisha Totemoff and Jazzy Gallatin won All Tournament Team awards.  Aleisha Totemoff also won the serving competition by serving 25 serves in one minute.

This weekend B team played some of their best games of the season. After some tough pool play on Friday, the Huskies secured the second place seed for the Saturday bracket. They beat the Valdez C team and Su Valley to make it to the championship games against Tok. The girls were hyped and played some fantastic volleyball, but ultimately came up just shy of the win scoring 23-25, 25-19, 13-15. Hazel Meyer, Sovi Christensen, and Emily Brewi were voted to the All Tournament Team. Congrats on their 2nd place finish! -Coach Fuschetto

C team played hard this weekend. There was lots of improvement in skills and building teamwork. C team won one set against Su Valley and had some close games against our own B team. 6th grader Parker King was voted into the All Tournament Team. So proud of them! -Coach Christensen
