To the families and stakeholders of Valdez City Schools:
I have recently been hired as interim Superintendent of Schools to complete school year 2021-2022. I come to Valdez with over 40 years of public-school experience including classroom teacher, building principal, and superintendent. My most recent superintendent experience actually being that of working in Valdez! I am excited to be back in Valdez and I am ready to again accept the many challenges associated with the running of a successful school district.
We are living in unprecedented times that seem to impact us daily. My priority is keeping your children in a safe learning environment. Quality education takes place in the classroom with in-person instruction! By working with our staff, the state, and our local medical professionals my goal is to maintain this environment for the successful social, emotional and academic growth of each student.
Look to our website, listen to local radio updates, or connect with your children’s school of attendance for updated information. COVID-19 demands our attention for the safety of all parties. I’ll appreciate your support as we move forward to 2022!
I’m excited to be back and look forward to reacclimating myself to life in Valdez and the mecca of wonderful opportunities our community and school district have to offer.
