You might have passed Sean Wisner running through Keystone Canyon, riding his bike in Thompson Pass or making a turn and starting yet another lap at the Valdez High School swimming pool, but did you know that he was training for the Iron Man Triathlon? An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile run. It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world and Wisner, Fire Chief at Alyeska Pipeline Service company, finished the race and became an Ironman in Lake Placid last Sunday.

“It’s not when you finish, by why you finish,” Wisner said.  Wisner ran the race to honor his Dad who passed away from ALS last year. “Ironman Lake Placid was an amazing experience in so many ways,” Wisner said. “First and foremost I am filled with gratitude for the amazing people I get to hang with and the beautiful places I get to travel to on this incredible journey.”
