Woman catches 158-pound halibut no derby ticket
KVAK’s Laurie Prax interviewed Lorna Illingworth of North Pole about why she didn’t buy a derby ticket before fishing for halibut. Illingworth caught a 158-pound halibut that would have taken the lead in the Valdez Halibut Derby, won her a weekly 1st place prize and $1,000 in the Valdez Halibut Hullabaloo tournament. Despite missing out on the winnings, Illingworth chose to tell her story and encourage others to buy a derby ticket.
