ANDY SMITH OF FBI TALKS ABOUT INVESTMENT CONFIDENCE/ROMANCE FRAUD
KVAK’s Laurie Prax talked wtih Andy Smith of the Anchorage office of the FBI about the most common “Investment” Fraud schemes in Alaska as well as “Confidence/Romance” fraud. In 2023, an FBI Internet Crime Report showed “Investment” Fraud constituted 6.6 million of the losses in Alaska and “Confidence/Romance” fraud was 2.8 million. Smith shared tips on how to spot a fraud and explained how to report a fraud to the FBI.
