The Lady Bucs ventured out to Galena for our regional tournament last week. After a long drive and early morning flight the Bucs hit the floor to face the Hutchison Hawks in the 1st round of regional play. The Bucs got the lead early and went on to win 42-30.
With the win over the Hawks the Bucs moved on to face the Monroe Catholic Rams later that same evening. The Rams have a team of very talented players who can hurt a team on the inside with their effective post play or from the outside with their accurate shooting ability. The Bucs moved slow, made many mental errors, and really struggled with the press from the start and Monroe never let up. The Rams easily took the win over the Bucs by a score of 74-16.
The loss to Monroe put the Lady Bucs in the consolation bracket Friday. The Buc faced the Delta Huskies and bounced back to play a great game. The Bucs saw quality contributions from their bench, started to see connections form and this young group really started to play together as a team. The Bucs fought hard all 4 quarters keeping the game within reach, but in the end came up short by a score of 59-48.

VHS coaching staff said they are extremely proud of how this group stepped up, adjusted and worked hard to get better. Our seniors stepped into different roles…as supporters from the bench and as calm leadership on the floor. “Our bench and younger players were forced into roles they were not quite ready for yet and they worked extremely hard every week and showed tremendous growth that will only benefit us next season.”
VHS Coaching staff gave a huge shout out to the community of Galena for hospitality second to none.
