Each year the Alaska Broadcasters Association holds a Convention in Anchorage and broadcasters from around the State attend and celebrate excellence at the Goldies Award Banquet. NWC/KVAK Radio received five awards this year for various advertising audio and promotions.
The KVAK Kids Club broadcast for the Valdez Kids Pink Salmon Derby won the statewide Award for Community Service Project. KVAK competed with radio stations in larger markets like Anchorage and Fairbanks to win statewide awards.
A Valdez Fishing Report podcast story about the Silver Salmon returning to Port Valdez won the statewide award for Best Sportscast
Heidi Franke and Tarin Prichard used humor to win “Best Promotional Announcement” Award.
Podcasts read by Eli McGee won the “Best News Feature” and “Best Sports Coverage awards in the Student category. KVAK competes with University of Anchorage and University of Fairbanks students in this category
