The Alaska Society for Technology in Education (ASTE) recognizes high school students using technology in unique or significant ways to enhance their understanding of academic content and to honor students who demonstrate leadership in initiatives that meaningfully use technology to achieve a desired goal. Barrett McCumby was recognized this morning for his role at NorthWave Communications/KVAK as a studio operator, newsflash contributor and mentor for the KVAK Kids Club. A letter of recognition from Valdez City Schools Director of Technology, said “Barrett exemplifies his commitment to leveraging technology for the betterment of our school and community”. To be eligible for this award, the nominee must be a student in an Alaskan school recognized by the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development.
