On April 6, Alyeska Pipeline Service Company will begin annual oil spill response training for fishing vessels in ports around Southcentral Alaska.

Alyeska and partners will conduct training in the following communities:

Kodiak April 6 – 9
Homer April 12 – 15
Seward April 18 – 19
Cordova April 24 – April 30
Valdez May 2 – 6

Alyeska’s Fishing Vessel Program partners with vessel captains and crews to ensure they are
ready to provide critical spill-response capabilities if needed. More than 350 contracted vessels
across six ports participate in the program. Each year, crew members complete two days of
hands-on training in their community, including shore-based practice with response equipment
followed by a full-day on-water exercise deploying skimmers, boom, and other gear. Additional
training sessions are planned for Whittier and Cordova later this fall.

Community members may notice increased vessel movements and equipment deployments in
the area. For more information about the Fishing Vessel Program, contact Kate Dugan, Valdez
Communications Manager, at (907) 831-0831 or Kate.Dugan@alyeska-pipeline.com.
