The Buccaneers traveled to Fairbanks to take on the Monroe Catholic Rams this weekend, dropping both contests by double digits. While the scoreboard didn’t fall in our favor, the growth and effort from this group continues to stand out.
Defensively, the focus over the weekend was on improving our help-side rotations and communication, and the boys answered the challenge. We took multiple charges over the course of the weekend, which speaks to both their courage and focus. Stepping in to take a charge is one of the clearest signs of trust and toughness, and it was great to see that commitment on display.
Offensively, we struggled to find consistent momentum. Turnovers proved costly, leading to too many Monroe fast break opportunities, and that gap was difficult to close. Cleaning up those possessions will be a major emphasis as we head into the final week of the season.
Despite the losses, it was a competitive and fun weekend of basketball. A quote I love and use often: “There are no failures when the goal is experience.” Every game is an opportunity to grow, and this group continues to build resilience and character.
The JV Boys wrap up their season this weekend at home against the Delta Huskies. We’re looking forward to competing on our home floor one more time.
Go Bucs!!!
