Submitted by VHS Swim Coach– On Friday, VHS swimmers went only as far as North Pole to compete in the one day meet. Aside from all the Fairbanks North Star Borough schools they have been swimming against, Colony High School was in attendance with their A, B, and C teams all participating.
Due to illness our team captain could not participate and therefore we did not have enough swimmers for our usual relays. However, Co-Captain Gray Odencrans, did a great job of keeping spirits up and leading the team. Both Josh Sims and Garrett Sutton PRs again this week. Josh shaved some time off his 50 free and Garrent lost 2 seconds on his 500 free. Makena Wisner and Gray Odencrans both came in second in their heats of the 200 yard freestyle. Colony proved to be quite the contender forcing Mariah Hoffman to place second in her events.
The swim team looks forward to this week’s homecoming meet where VHS will be hosting instead of traveling. Please come out and cheer on your VHS swimmers on Friday at 5 pm and Saturday at 10 am. Torpedoes Swim Club will be running concessions as a fundraiser. Hope to see you there!
