Valdez, AK – Valdez Police and Fire Dispatch were notified at 10:42 a.m. of an electrical fire on the Lady J, a 47’ recreational vessel, docked in the Valdez Harbor’s North Basin, aka Small Boat Harbor.
Valdez Fire Department personnel arrived on the scene at 10:47 a.m. and quickly extinguished the fire, containing it within the vessel. Ports and Harbor personnel moved nearby vessels out of the way as a precaution to limit their exposure.
No injuries or damage to other vessels were reported. As a precaution, Lady J has been taken out of the water, placed in dry dock on a washdown pad away from other vessels, and monitored for 24 hours.
