Tour of Valdez Brewing for KVAK’s Tourism Week
Despite challenges with equipment at the studio, the KVAK staff adapted to changes in how giveaways were conducted and gave away more than $1,000 in prizes last week. KVAK’s AM streaming encoder took a dive and the AM station was down for a short time before troubleshooting and innovation behind the scenes made it possible for on-air delivery to be restored. Station manager Laurie Prax said despite all the problems going on, she is proud of her staff for focusing, innovating and overcoming adversity to deliver fun live events and on-air contests for clients and the community. “There are still some equipment issues to be worked out, but all of our channels should be working with the exception of AM streaming, which should be restored next week when new equipment comes in,” Prax said. “Interacting with the listeners was a blast this week,” said KVAK employee Ricky Colapietro. “It was awesome to see everyone at events and we even had a listener bring us handmade chocolate chip cookies”.
