Courtesy of VHS Coaches – This past weekend the Bucs traveled to Palmer to join 27 other 3A and 4A teams for the Palmer Relays. Sunny weather and stiff competition made for a long, busy, and very exciting weekend. Izzy Kizer continued her winning streak in Long Jump, breaking her own VHS school record yet again and taking 2nd overall at the meet with a stunning jump of 16’ 3”. Rafe Caruthers also had an outstanding weekend setting personal records in the 800m, 1600m, and the 3200m. In the 1600m, he attained his much sought-after sub-5-minute mile with an impressive 4:57.49. Overall, the team competed at their best and set many new personal records.
