Courtesy of GMS Coaches – The GMS Huskies competed in their last away games of the season at Glennallen’s Sweetheart Slam tournament. The A team had a successful Friday with wins against Delta 2, Nome, Tri-Valley and Glenallen, but was defeated by Delta 1. During bracket play on Saturday morning A team won against Su Valley 25-10 and 25-20. A team then played Tok in the semi final match and lost 15-25 and 11-25. Despite their loss against Tok, Coach Craig is really proud of her team as they displayed a higher level of play than earlier in the season. All of our hitters were getting kills, our setters were shining and back row passers were digging and passing with better accuracy. Middle hitters, Paige Pedersen and Sovi Christensen made the All Tournament team.

B Team from Coach Christensen:
We traveled to Glennallen and played in their Sweetheart Slam tournament on Friday and Saturday. We played Delta, Tok, Glennallen, TriValley, and Nome on Friday and ended the  night undefeated. The girls really stepped up their game and had a lot of awesome plays, getting 3 touches on a lot of them.   Saturday mornings games were pre drawn, and we went up against SuValley, winning in two sets.  We then went head to head against Nome, also winning in two sets.  These two wins had the team going up for the championship game. We played  against Glennallen and fell short, 22:25 for both sets. I am extremely proud of these girls and the improvement I’ve seen in them. Tila Compehos was our All Tournament player. We are back for our last week of practice, preparing for our home tournament.  Come cheer on your Huskie volleyball girls this coming weekend!

C team from Coach Fuschetto:
This weekend the Huskies traveled to Glennallen for the Sweetheart Slam Tournament. Friday started with round robin play and the C Team played fantastic finishing the day with 4 wins and only one loss. Saturday morning was a pre-drawn single elimination bracket and the Huskies drew the early game. Good serving and talking led to a win, knocking out the Delta 2 team 25-14 and 27-25. The next game against Nome proved to be a challenge for our serve receive. The girls showed some excellent hustle and rallied from behind, but ultimately lost in three sets, 25-19, 16-25, 15-17. Savannah Pruitt was named to the All Tournament team. This week we’re back in the gym preparing to show off our skills at our home tournament! Great job ladies!
