JV Boys Basketball Played in North Pole JV Invitational

Courtesy of VHS Coaches – The JV Boys team traveled to the City of North Pole last weekend to participate in an eight team invitational Tournament. The Bucs played the host team North Pole on Thursday night and came away with a nice win in a 49 – 36 game. The boys used pressure defense and took it the lead early. Roman Weber and Barrett McCumby controlled the middle to shut down the North Pole drives. The Bucs controlled the boards on both ends of the court. Jarrett Gage and Grayson Ade led the scoring for the Bucks

In the Semi final game, the Bucs played the Monroe Rams. Monroe took the lead early with 4
3 pointers and a 18 – 9 lead in the first period. The Bucs used a strong pac line defense, and 14
of points to hold even with them in the 2 nd period. Monroe came out hot in the 3 rd quarter and
scored 21 points the Bucs 17. The 4 th quarter belonged to the Bucs and they made up ground,
outscoring the Rams 15 to 11. Jarrett Gage had the hot hand for the Buccaneers with 32 points
and Roman Webber played strong defense taking 4 charges in the 2 nd half.

The Saturday 3rd place consolation game had the Bus playing Eielson Ravens. The Bucs
controlled the game from start to finish. They played strong Pac-line defense and fast break
offense to win the game by 30 points.
