November 4th
Delta Basketball Away Games. Valdez Girls B1 and B2 Teams
This weekend concluded the final weekend of out-of-town travel for our GMS Basketball team as we made our way north to Delta Grizzlies gym. On Friday, your GMS lady Huskies B1 Team came off a long bus ride and started on the court a little flat but picked up intensity by the second half. This season Delta has presented us with a tough press most of the entire game. We had difficulty taking care of the ball, allowing several shots on their end. We fought hard, tried to get our offense going but came out short losing 4 to 26. Ava R. was our sole score putting 4 points up, including two made free throws.
Friday evening made for back-to-back Girls B Team games with opportunity for the 6 th and 7th graders to get game experience. The Girls B2 Team came out hungry and aggressive; able to take care of the ball and break the Delta Grizzly press. It was a team effort with Olivia K (2), Peyton B (4), Harper O (4), Lydia R (2), Daisy G (12), Madison W (2) and Averey F (1) all putting points on the boar for a 27 to 4 win over the Delta Grizzlies.
November 5th
Delta Basketball Road Trip. Valdez Girls B1 and B2 Teams
Your Valdez Girls Huskies B1 Team took to the court once again on Saturday morning for the second day of play in Delta. Although the B1 Team came out enthusiastic and ready to play against an aggressive Delta team, we were unable to put everything together. Floor burns to several knees weren’t enough to come out with a win in the end but the positive attitude and sportsmanship of our Girls B1 Team shows is certainly a program in the making and one Valdez can be proud of.
The Girls B2 Team pulled out a spectacular win on Saturday morning winning soundly over the Delta Grizzlies by a good 20 point spread. A team effort and hard play propelled the husky to a sizeable lead early on in the game with even scoring across the board. The Girls B team will be getting ready for the final week of basketball as we prepare for a home tournament this coming weekend.
