Courtesy of VHS Coaches – The varsity volleyball team competed at the West Valley Invitational. This was a 10-team tournament with seven 4A and three 3A including us. All of Friday and most of Saturday were pool play games to seat the top 4 teams for the semi-finals and championship. The girls had a phenomenal weekend of games. On Friday they played 6 teams and two sets against each team. We went 7-5 in wins while figuring out a rotation that worked best for us.
Saturday went great after we found our rhythm Friday night. The girls went 5-1 to finish off pool play, placing them 3rd for the semi-finals to play against South Anchorage High School in a match, best 2 out of 3. The girls had high energy on and off the floor with great all around play beating them 2-0 to get into the championship. The championship immediately followed against Lathrop. The girls fought the entire match and came out on top in the 3rd set winning 2-1. We’re excited for next weekend to play in our annual Valdez Invite.
