The City of Valdez 2022 construction season will be underway in the upcoming weeks. Here are some updates for the upcoming street jobs around town July 7th thru July 13th.
- Work will begin on East Hangaita Street from Meals Avenue to the Senior Center and Hospital parking areas on July 7th. East Hangita Street will be closed to all traffic in the upcoming week. A detour will be set up for access to the alternate ER entrance and the Valdez Senior Center. Please follow all detour and other traffic instructions in this area.
- Work will begin on Whalen Avenue in late August. The City will inform the public once a construction schedule is received and the road will be permanently closed to the public once construction begins.
- Landscaping and topsoil work will begin July 7th on the Pavement Management Phase II Black Gold project.
- Please follow all traffic control instructions and take extra precautions around heavy equipment and flaggers.
