The Valdez Fish Derbies page has been updated and reads “Fishing can be a great way to enjoy the great outdoors and hopefully, with some changes to allow for social distancing and changes due to the economy, we can balance the health concerns of our community with everyone’s desire to catch the big one. Please understand that Valdez Fish Derbies is run by a committee of volunteers and very dependent on limited staff and lots of volunteers. We are committed to the derbies and will do our best to provide you with information and updates on our page and ask that you check our website for updates and are understanding of circumstances outside of our control”. VALDEZ HALIBUT DERBY IS STARTING MAY 23RD
The Valdez Halibut Derby will begin May 23rd as planned. The weigh-in will be open with new safety protocols and social distancing requests posted at the weigh-in station. The 1st place prize for 2020 is $5,000, 2nd place prize is $1,500 and 3rd place $750.
HALIBUT HALLABALOO TOURNAMENT IS ON FOR JUNE 5-14
With Halibut Hullabaloo running 10-days and a huge ocean to fish in, there should be adequate space to social distance says Valdez Fish Derbies. The 2020 Prize is $500 cash in addition to weekly prizes.
