(10-03-16) – This past weekend Valdez High School hosted their annual swimming invitational. Colony, Palmer, Wasilla, and Cordova joined Valdez for a two day competition. This year Valdez had a team of six spirited student athletes waiting to compete in their only home invite of the season. Top performances for Valdez go to the girls team finishing 3rd overall including a 3rd place finish in the 200 yard medley, 3rd in the 400 yard freestyle relay, and a 2nd place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Strong individual performances were recorded by seniors Rylee Norris. She received 2nd place in two of her events including a 1st place finish in the 100 yard freestyle and Chris Cummins with two 3rd place finishes, a 2nd place finish in the 50 yard freestyle and a 1st place finish in the 100 yard backstroke. The team travels this weekend to compete in Bartlett.
