Parks & Recreation Mission and Vision Task Force Now accepting applications for three community members to serve on the Task Force The City of Valdez is now accepting letters of interest from citizens who are interested in serving as a member of the Parks & Recreation Mission and Vision Task Force.

Members are appointed to represent the community-at-large and commitment is short term. Appointees will serve three to four evening weekday meetings over the span of no more than three months, completed no later than August 9, 2019.

The Parks & Recreation Mission and Vision Task force will consist of three Parks & Recreation Commission members, two members of the Parks Recreation & Cultural Services (PRCS) staff, one youth member (advertised in a separate notice), and three adult members from the community-at-large. The task force reports directly to the Parks & Recreation Commission, with staff support from the PRCS department.

The purpose of the Task Force is to take the lead the first step of the Parks & Recreation master planning process by refining the city’s parks and recreation mission and defining its vision, goals, and objectives. The task force will present their end product to the Parks & Recreation Commission at a work session in August 2019. The task force will then be disbanded.

Interested citizens should submit a letter of interest addressed to the Parks & Recreation Commission and a resume either by email to aduhamel@valdezak.gov or in person at the main PRCS office in the Valdez Civic Center, 110 Clifton Drive.

Deadline for submission is Friday, May 10th for appointment by the Parks & Recreation Commission at their May 14th regular meeting. For additional information or questions about the task force, please contact the PRCS Director at (907) 835-4440 or nfarline@valdezak.gov.
