The Lady Bucs celebrate winning 1st place in tournament
(03-14-15) – Last weekend the VHS Varsity Girls basketball team competed in the Aurora Conference Regional Basketball Tournament. The Lady Bucs went into the tournament as the number one overall seed. On the first day of competition the girls faced off against the Eielson Ravens. Valdez dominated for the entire game winning 58-32. With the victory over the Ravens, the Lady Bucs went on to play in the championship game. The next day the Lady Bucs played the Galena Hawks in a hard fought championship game. The game went down to the wire and at the end Valdez was able to make enough defensive stops to hold on to win 34-30. The Lady Bucs will now go on to the state tournament next week in Anchorage with their first game at 8am Thursday, March 24th against Mt. Edgecumbe.
