Wrestling – Coach Tyler Thompson

We had a great weekend of wrestling with some great improvement by each wrestler.

Kyle Henderson and Jondel Toro brought home some hardware this weekends.

Kyle placed first at 160 with three dominating pins. In his finals match he led by a score of 20-2 before picking up the fall. If he would have let the kid off his back Kyle would have won by technical fall (up by 15 points) but Kyle dug deep and picked up a fall instead.

Jondel placed third at 84 lbs battling his way back after a first round loss.

Michael (3-2): wrestled great and did a great job of making adjustments correcting mistakes throughout the day.

William (1-2): wrestled tough and picked up a pin to end the day

McKennan (0-4): wrestled hard and when he came off the mat after a loss he focused on the things he needed to work on, not the fact that he lost. I am glad he didn’t let the loss consume his thoughts

Theron (0-4): lost some very close matches and knows exactly what caused him to lose those matches. Stayed very positive and optimistic about his ability to improve.

The team is doing a great job of focusing on improving their skills to get better after each match as opposed to worrying about if they won or not.

It was a great weekend and we had a lot of fun. I look forward to seeing their progression throughout the year.
