
VALDEZ, ALASKA (February 8, 2026) — Valdez Emergency Services responded to a fire at the Valdez Airport Mancamp on Airport Road Saturday evening, February 7. The fire was contained to the kitchen and dining hall building, with heavy smoke coming from all sides of the structure when crews arrived. No injuries were reported, and no other property was damaged.
Emergency crews were dispatched at 7:31 p.m. on February 7 after receiving a call reporting a possible fire in or near the Valdez Mancamp. Law enforcement and fire crews were on scene by 7:37 p.m. The Mancamp manager and two cooks confirmed that no one was inside the building at the time. The Valdez Fire Department worked through the night to contain the blaze; however, the building was a total loss. The facility was not in operation, which helped limit exposure.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Valdez Fire Department and the Alaska State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Airport Road was closed on Sunday, February 8, 2026, while the crews conducted the investigation.
