This past weekend the Bucs played their second set of conference games hosting the Galena Hawks. Both nights saw similar outcomes with single digit wins for the Bucs. The main focus was for the Bucs to come out with some energy and to execute what we needed to do. With the Hawks playing a 2-3 zone, we knew that we needed to work the ball through the middle to get the offense working and get everyone involved. It took a little time to get that going, along with getting some shots to fall. Friday night we struggled from outside in the first half before heating up a bit in the second half. Saturday was a little more balanced scoring throughout the game.
The Hawks came to play and would not go away easily always storming back and taking the lead at times. In both games the Bucs weathered the storm and came out ahead. It was a good learning weekend, after the games we talked about things that need to improve over the next few weeks. Some of what we talked about was taking care of the ball better, rebounding, and executing what is working.
This coming weekend is our Elks Tournament. Our first game is Thursday night against Cordova. I hope to see many of you out at the games!
