In 2023, 97% of freight by weight moving through the port consisted of crude petroleum. Most of the remaining freight volume is made up of other types of fuel, including gasoline, kerosene, distillate fuel oil, residual fuel oil, and hydrocarbon and petrol gases. Valdez also ships out nonfuel cargo consisting primarily of fish and trash exports.
