91% of Alaska births occur in a hospital, vs 98.4% nationally

The State of Alaska Department of Health released an Analytics report on Health in Alaska. NorthWave Communications is sharing statistics from that report over several weeks.

According to the Alaska Department of Health Vital Statistics report, 91% births in Alaska in 2024 occurred in a hospital. Five percent were in medical centers, and two percent were at home. Nationally, 98.4% of births occur in hospitals (National Institute of Health).
