This past weekend the Valdez Volleyball team competed at the Aurora Conference Regional Tournament. They went in seeded first and played Hutch. This was their only game Friday. The girls showed up ready to show why they are ranked number 1 in 3A. It was a quick 3 sets with the whole team getting time on the floor and several trying new positions. This win sent them into the semi finals to play Monroe on Saturday. Friday night after games were finished the second annual skills competition took place with Destiny Day getting best setter and Lola Compehos getting Best Hitter.
Saturday started off with the great game against Monroe. The girls came in with the energy and drive to win. They beat Monroe 3-0 and played some amazing volleyball. This solidified their spot at state and pushed them into the Championship. The girls went up again against Monroe for the second time that day. The game was tough but the girls held their composure and worked as a team to win 3-1. This is the 6th year in a row Valdez has
won Regionals.
This week we head to State on Wednesday and start off the tournament with Nome at 11:45 on Thursday.
