Did you know the GMS runners run faster than oil flows in the Alyeska pipeline? GMS cross country coach Sarah Carter did a little math and learned that oil flows through the pipeline from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez at about 1.77 miles per hour. GMS runners averaged six miles per hour at their September 20th race, proving GMS runners are way faster than oil!
In their final meet, the GMS team showed up strong and took the Delta 1.87 mile course full stride!! The runners showed determination, with many crossing the finish line ahead of the goal times they set. Several GMS runners won top place ribbons: Kaiden Leahy, Abby Burns, Liam Stark, Cora Hamilton and Colin Leahy all earned 1st place in their grade level category.
