VPD Seek Public’s Help with Surveillance Footage, Witnesses from July 23 Incident
VALDEZ, ALASKA (July 23, 2025) —A late-night fire destroyed the Little League Park dugout on Atigun Drive, near South Central Mobile Home Park on July 23. Valdez Fire and Police Departments responded to the blaze shortly after 1:00 a.m. on July 23, finding the dugout fully engulfed in flames upon arrival. Despite a rapid response, the structure was completely destroyed.
Following an initial investigation, the fire is being treated as a suspected arson case.
The Valdez Police Department is now requesting the public’s assistance. Anyone who was in the area or observed suspicious activity between 10:00 p.m. on July 22 and 1:30 a.m. on July 23 is urged to contact the Valdez Police Department at 907-835-4560.
Residents and businesses in the surrounding neighborhood are also asked to review any surveillance footage from 10:00 p.m. on July 22 through 1:30 a.m. on July 23. Even seemingly minor footage or observations could be critical in identifying those responsible for the fire.
