The Bucs enjoyed a beautiful sunny weekend competing at the Region Preview
meet in Fairbanks at West Valley High School. For the Region Preview, 4A and 3A
compete together, but next week, they will be split out and compete separately.
The boy’s 4X100 team of Jace Wadsworth, Brody Lijedahl, Merrick McCumby,
and Andrew Baczuk took 3rd overall and 1st for 3A; the 4X200 team of Jace
Wadsworth, Kaden VanBuskirk, Brody Lijedahl, and Merrick McCumby also took 3rd
overall and 1st for 3A. The 4X400 team of James Humphrey, Kaden VanBuskirk,
Merrick McCumby, and Reggie Baksis took 3rd place overall and second in 3A, just a
fraction of a second behind Delta, and the 4X800 team of James Humphrey, Kaden
VanBuskirk, Zane Caruthers, and Reggie Baksis took second overall and 1st for 3A.
In the girls’ relays, the 4X100 of Aliya Valeriano, Regan Pedersen, Hailey Major,
and River Smelcer took 7th place overall and 2nd in 3A just a second behind Monroe.
The same girls in the 4X200 took 4th place overall and 2nd place again behind Monroe.
The girls’ 4X800 team of Jewely Weber, Morgan Hamilton, Laken Unger, and Hailey
Majoyr, took 3rd overall and is currently 1st in 3A.
We also had three new hurdlers this week in the 300m Hurdles. Cirque Carter
finished with a time of 50.76, Dylan Passage had a time of 50.91, and Cody Miller had a
time of 56.32.
James Humphrey busted out a time of 4:57.39 for a sub-5-minute mile and
gained a new PR in the 3200 with a time of 10:47.74
The boys’ team took 4th overall behind West Valley, North Pole, and Lathrop with
65 team points, and our small girls’ team of 8, accrued 38 total team points. Things are
looking great for our Region 6 Meet next week!
