Buccaneer wrestling continued this past weekend at the annual Mountain City Christian Academy (formerly known as ACS) Invitational. This tournament is the largest small school tournament in Alaska, with brackets larger than the state tournament. Leading the way for the Bucs was Senior Mckennan Mayer and Junior Carlie Vanbuskirk, both placing first in their divisions. Carlie dominated her way through the tournament, with each win coming via pin. She is now 14-0 winning every match by pin. Mckennan also had a great weekend winning his first 4 matches with bonus points (pin, tech fall, or major decision) and winning a hard fought 4-3 battle against Bethel’s Landon Burke in the finals. Also placing were Junior’s Dalen Beck (3rd 160lbs), Romen Weber (5th 160lbs), James Garcia (6th 285lbs), and Freshman Jewely Weber placing 6th at 120lbs. Next weekend the Bucs will travel to Ketchikan to participate in the annual Bill Weiss Invitational. See below for all results.
