This weekend the Lady Bucs traveled to Anchorage for the last tournament of the regular season. They competed in the Dimond/Service Invitational. This is the largest 4A tournament in the state with only three 3A teams competing this year out of 20 teams. I am so incredibly proud of how the girls played this weekend with three starters out sick and learning a brand new rotation Wednesday before the tournament. In pool play they played against four teams (East, Kodiak, West Anchorage, and Lathrop). We went 3-1 and managed to be the only 3A team in the top bracket. The girls really stepped up this weekend and showed how strong of a team they really are.
On Saturday, we started off bracket play against Thunder Mountain. The girls came out strong and beat them 2-0. We continued in the winners side of the bracket to play Dimond. This was a tough game and the girls played well but ended up falling short and losing 0-2. Our final game of the tournament was against South Anchorage. This was a super close game, both sets going point for point. The girls ended up losing 0-2 and taking 5th overall in the tournament. Next weekend the team travels to Galena for the final conference games before Regionals.
