GMS Volleyball at Cordova

Courtesy of Meagan Craig- The GMS Husky Volleyball teams had a fun-filled weekend in Cordova. The Wolverines proved to be a strong contender for the A team as they defeated us Friday night with scores of 15-25 and 13-25. The Wolverines served us strong and deep into the back row and we were a little flat in returning them. We had a lot of missed serves on our end, which gave up a lot of points. On Saturday, we came out stronger and determined to give the Wolverines a run for their money. We passed much better, got more serves in and dug many of their strong hits, but ultimately lost in the third set with scores of 25-14, 20-25 and 15-11.

B Team from Coach Christensen:
We left Thursday morning to head to Cordova to go head to head with the Wolverines. Friday, we were off to a rough start, losing the first set 16:25. We improved our communication and skills for the next set but still fell short 22:25. Saturday morning, we were well rested and played hard,  improving from Friday. Cordova Wolverines were still on fire, and we lost both sets 19:25 and 22:25. Overall, we enjoyed the competition and look forward to going up against them at our home tournament. Great job girls!

C team from Coach Fuschetto:
This weekend the Valdez C Team traveled to Cordova to take on the Wolverines. The team was down a few girls, which forced the young Huskies to learn a brand new rotation very quickly. They rose to the challenge and were able to come up with a win on Friday 25-18 and 25-11. On Saturday the team focused on passing which led to some great opportunities for hitting at the net. Cordova struggled with our tough serves, and the Huskies pulled out another win 25-19 and 25-14. Great job ladies!!
