GMS VOLLEYBALL WRAP-UP – FEBRUARY 15, 2021

Courtesy of Meagan Craig – The GMS Volleyball team had our first set of home games this weekend against the Delta Huskies. Our A, B and C teams proved to be strong competition against our opponent as we finished the weekend undefeated.

A Team

A team played strong and showed their level of skill with hard serves and unmatched hitting at the net. 8th grader Kelsey Prax was the top server for the weekend. On Friday, outside hitter Lola Compehos showed her power by earning several points from kills and tips and Abby O’Neil secured the win in the second set with a game finishing kill. The A team won 25-13 and 25-17 on Friday and also came out on top Saturday with scores of 25-10 and 25-14 in the second set.

B Team

Our B team battled it out with Delta. Both matches for B team went to set 3 and Valdez was able to pull through with wins for each match with scores of 25-16, 25-15 and 15-13 on Friday night and 25-18, 25-23, and 16-14 on Saturday. 7th grader Jade Cook was the top server for the weekend.

The Gilson Middle School Huskies B volleyball team went three sets with the Delta Huskies both Friday and Saturday and emerged victorious both days.

C Team

Coach Fuschetto and Coach Christensen reported that C team came out ready to play against their first opponent of the season. Strong serving helped them secure victories on Friday 25-7 and 25-12 and Saturday 25-14 and 25-22. The girls are working hard learning the fundamentals of the game and look forward to another match this coming weekend as we host the Glennallen Panthers.
