Courtesy of VHS – Nine Valdez High School students just got back from representing Valdez in Washington DC as part of the National Close Up program. They explored the highlights of the area: Mt. Vernon, the White House, and had an in-depth private tour of the Capitol and Representative’s office with much thanks to Representative Begich’s staff. Our students learned a lot about different perspectives, collaboration and compromise, and successfully “passed a bill” during their Mock Congress session.
